THIS SALAD!🌰It’s the *perfect* fresh accompaniment to all the warm, rich foods you’re likely enjoying this season; delicious on the side of soups and stews, roasts and braises. 👋Hello friends,It’s been a big week and I know that many of us are tired, run down, fighting colds, tending broken hearts, and feeling uncertain about the future. I don’t have any answers but I do know that nourishing ourselves, our families and friends must come first. Stick to the small and attainable, because everything ripples out from there🌀This breakfast has been a game-changer for me, not just this week but the past few months as soon as I got serious about flipping the day around to enjoy my largest meal at breakfast to properly fuel me. This one delivers 52g of protein, fibre, and minerals. It’s easy, fast, inexpensive, and veg-friendly. I’m over the moon about it!😄Starting the day with protein boosts dopamine production, which is essential for motivation, focus, and productivity. That doesn’t mean avoiding carbohydrates (in fact we need them in balance to support hormone health - see all those veggies and the big ol’ hunk of sourdough?), but it does mean that we include them with other macronutrients to keep our blood sugar stable, avoiding brain fog and the carb-crash cycle that challenges so many of us🎢If you’d like the recipe, it’s up on my membership site, Grow (only $5 a month my friends!). 🍃Crispy Sage Chips😋During our @goldencircleretreats in Tuscany, our fantastic chef @stefania_deleo_cibo_ancestrale brought these to our table at lunch one day, and we were all shocked at just how delicious they were! Super crisp, crazy-savoury, with a more mellow sage flavour than expected, and not bitter at all. We gobbled them up! And she shared a loose recipe, which couldn’t be simpler👏These crisps are gluten-free, vegan, and such a celebratory way of using this fabulous fall herb, letting it shine in all its glory. 🖤Black Sesame Tahini🖤Here’s a seasonal spin on the classic tahini, using black sesame seeds! Black sesame is nutrient-rich, high in essential nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc, which support bone health and overall well-being. They also contain antioxidant properties that help combat oxidative stress and may reduce the risk of chronic diseases🖤And because black sesame seeds have not been hulled, they offer a rich source of dietary fibre that can aid digestion and maintain a healthy gut. Some studies even suggest that black sesame may support hormonal balance, particularly in women, and may help alleviate symptoms of menopause🖤You can use black tahini anywhere you would use regular tahini - in hummus or other dips, dressings and sauces, baked goods, spread on toast, drizzled on fruit, or swirled into smoothies. It’s the little black dress of seed butters that goes with everything! I hope you enjoy🖤INGREDIENTS 2 cups / 270g black sesame seeds1/2 tsp. fine sea salt3 tbsp. cold-pressed sesame oil or other neutral oilDIRECTIONS Stove method:Working in 2 or 3 batches, toast sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat, stirring often, until the seeds begin to crackle and smell fragrant, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and repeat until all the seeds have been toasted. Set aside to cool. Oven method: Preheat the oven to 325°F. Spread sesame seeds out on two rimmed baking sheets and place in the oven to toast for 15-20, stirring a couple times during cooking to prevent burning. Remove from the oven and let cool. Place the toasted seeds in a food processor and blend on high until smooth, scraping down the sides every so often, then adding the oil as needed. Add salt and blend.
